  Then Ariana became pregnant.
  
  Suddenly, the carefree life Akira enjoyed wasn't so carefree anymore. Faced with the reality of becoming a young father, Akira panicked and ran. Rather than stay beside Ariana or take responsibility for his unborn child, he abandoned her completely.
  
  Ariana was left to raise Jorge and Josephine on her own, while Akira chose the easiest possible option: disappearing.

  Cristian's life became permanently tangled with the Conklynn family after his encounter with Shayna Conklynn. Shayna was still a teenager when she became pregnant after a date with Cristian. She kept the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy completely secret, telling only one person what had really happened—not even her father, Gage, ever learned the truth.
  
  Shayna eventually gave birth to her son, Emerson, and tried to move forward with her life.
  
  Unfortunately, Cristian eventually discovered that Shayna had a child.
  
  Instead of taking responsibility or simply staying away, Cristian became violent toward Shayna and beat her. Terrified for herself and her son, Shayna realized she could no longer safely remain where she was.
  
  She took Emerson and left town.
  
  Determined not to be recognized, Shayna changed her hairstyle and appearance, essentially disappearing and starting over with her son. She didn't leave because she wanted adventure.
  
  She left because she wanted peace and safety.
  
  Cristian, meanwhile, became a name Shayna desperately wanted to leave behind.
  
  He never became the father figure Emerson needed. He never repaired the damage he caused to Shayna's life. Instead, he became another painful chapter in a family already filled with abandonment, addiction, and broken relationships.
  
  Ironically, Gage spent years believing his daughter had simply made a terrible mistake as a teenager. He never knew the truth behind her pregnancy or the reason she eventually disappeared with Emerson.

  As a teenager, Emerson struggled socially and was never particularly popular in high school, although he maintained a close circle of friends. He eventually graduated early and began building a future for himself. His early adulthood, however, was anything but stable.
  Emerson’s first serious relationship was with Kacie. The two eventually planned a wedding in Tartosa, but Emerson became increasingly uncomfortable with the relationship. When Kacie pushed heavily for marriage, Emerson ultimately abandoned her at the altar, leaving her devastated and furious. Their failed relationship would later come back to haunt him.
  After his breakup with Kacie, Emerson found himself struggling financially after making poor investments in luxury apartments and accumulating debt. He eventually pursued higher education and entered the political world. By his final semester of college, Emerson had begun moving toward a career in politics and eventually launched a political campaign.
  His political ambitions were quickly complicated by scandal. Kacie leaked compromising photographs of him, creating a public relations nightmare that threatened his political image. Shayna stepped in, hiring both a lawyer and a private investigator to help uncover what had happened.
  Emerson’s personal life became even more chaotic when he became involved with Shanty. Their relationship was passionate but deeply troubled. At one point, Emerson slapped Shanty during an argument, an incident that would have devastating consequences. Shanty’s father, Jamin, a police officer, discovered what had happened and used his position to frame Emerson for a crime. Jamin tampered with evidence in an attempt to ensure Emerson would face consequences far beyond what had actually happened.

  Biography: Gage Conklynn was never handed an easy life. Born alongside his twin brother, Carl, Gage's childhood was marked by addiction, instability, and family conflict. Carl sadly died from disease when the twins were still toddlers, leaving Gage to grow up without the brother who had shared his earliest days.
  
  Gage's relationship with his father, Gerard, was especially terrible. Gerard struggled with drug addiction and spent much of Gage's childhood in and out of jail. The two developed an explosive relationship and physically fought on numerous occasions. Eventually, Gerard disowned Gage, and Gage was even outcast from the Goth family dynasty.
  
  Rather than let his family's reputation define him, Gage decided he would make something of himself.
  
  When he aged into a teenager, Gage immediately moved out on his own, settling into a double-wide trailer and supporting himself while still attending high school. He lived paycheck to paycheck, working two jobs just to keep the lights on and put food on the table.
  
  But Gage refused to let poverty determine his future.
  
  He became one of the most hardworking students at his school. Determined to escape the life he'd been born into, he pushed himself academically and eventually graduated early. He was also the captain of the swim team, somehow balancing practices, school, and two jobs while living independently as a teenager.
  
  For Gage, success wasn't about being better than everyone else.
  
  It was about proving to himself that he could become something his parents never were.
  
  During high school, Gage met Gracelyn Fryes, his first love and high school sweetheart. Their relationship quickly became serious, and when Gracelyn became pregnant, Gage moved her into his home. He wanted to build the stable family he'd never had.
  
  But then he discovered Gracelyn was an alcoholic.

He stays with Jospehine because he knows she will never leave him. He loves Josephine, just not enough to settle down with her druggy ass. Missed his who sons' toddlerhood due to being in jail and missed his sons sudden passing (Carl). Had a good relationship with his two daughters and won custody of them, but him and Gage never put their beef aside. Gerard disowned Gage from the family Goth Dynasty. Later in life passed away from old age.

One night after a long night of working he came home in the morning after work to Gracelyn drunk passed out on the front step and Shayna was in a shit and piss pile on the floor untaken care of. Gracelyn is an alcoholic, Gage unknowingly did not know that and broke up with her immediately. He moved out and gave Gracelyn the trailer, heartbroken went on their own separate ways sharing custody of Shayna.

  When Shanty became involved with Emerson Conklynn, Jamison immediately became wary of him. His concerns turned into anger after discovering that Emerson had slapped Shanty during an argument.   A Mother Too Young
  
  While still in high school, Josephine became pregnant with twin boys, Gage and Carl. Instead of seeing motherhood as a fresh start, Josephine became increasingly reckless.
  
  She began using drugs, including hard drugs during her pregnancy.
  
  Gage eventually discovered what was happening and was furious. Unable to tolerate what he was watching his mother do, he kicked Josephine out of the house.

  Her relationship with Gerard only made things worse.
  
  Gerard was also deeply involved with drugs and repeatedly found himself in jail. Josephine remained attached to him despite the destruction surrounding their relationship.
  
  Gage despised Gerard and resented his mother for continuing to stay with him.
  
  Losing Carl
  
  Josephine's greatest tragedy as a mother came when her twin son, Carl, died as a toddler from disease.
  
  The filthy and unsafe conditions of Josephine's trailer contributed to the circumstances surrounding his death.
